In 2010 Great Ethiopian Run’s official fundraising campaign linked to its international 10km race, also known as the Dream Campaign, aims to raise one million birr (c.$.70,000) to donate to two charities nominated by UNICEF. The charities selected for receiving funds are both well-known NGOs working in Ethiopia: Mary Joy and Abebech Gobena. Mary Joy Mary Joy is involved in supporting children, women, families and other under privileged community groups through integrated development programs. These programs focus on capacity building and encourage the participation of beneficiaries so that their livelihoods are improved and that they learn how to deal with issues such as HIV/AIDS. In 2009 Great Ethiopian Run raised more than 600,000 Birr for charity, more than twice the total raised in 2008 (250,000 birr). Please help us to reach our target this year to support these good causes.  Dagimawit Amare, Office Manager of Great Ethiopian Run handed over a big cheque to Berhan-Ethiopia. Berhan-Ethiopia was one of the two beneficiaries of the 2009 fundraising and they are located in Wollenchiti, a small town 125km from Addis Ababab.
