 International 10k

Great Ethiopian Run's international 10km race takes place in Addis Ababa on Sunday 21st November 2010. This year the event celebrates its 10th edition.
Around 35,000 participants are expected to take part in the race, a slight increase on the 33,000 who participated last year in the biggest race ever seen on the African continent. Addis Ababa is situated at an altitude of 7,500 feet (2,300m) and is considered to be one of the great capital cities of distance running. Between three and five thousand young runners train every day in the forests on the edge of the city, including all of Ethiopia's world-class performers. The race's ambassador is Haile Gebrselassie who has been instrumental in the success of the event-managing organisation known as Great Ethiopian Run, credited with the birth of mass-participation running in Ethiopia.
